ENG-ITA is a forum for discussion in Italian and English in which people who have a command of one of the two languages are learning the other and wish to know more about members in other countries.

ENG-ITA è un Forum di discussione italiano-inglese dove si incontrano persone, che conoscono sia la lingua tedesca che quella italiana, che stanno studiando l'altra lingua e desiderano avere più notizie sui partecipanti dell'altro paese.

1. Il Forum - The forum

In order to take part in the discussion of this forum, the only thing you have to do is to send your messages to the forum address and the computers will automatically send them on to all the other members.

Per poter partecipare alla discussione in questo Forum, devi solo inviare il tuo messaggio all'indirizzo del Forum; il computer si occupa di distribuirlo automaticamente agli altri partecipanti.

To begin with, we suggest that, as a newcomer, you introduce yourself to the other members writing just a few lines in your mother tongue, or better still, in both languages. It is possible that in this way other members might get in touch with you and, by having things in common, will find out more about you.

Sarebbe bene se tu in quanto nuovo membro del Forum ti presentassi brevemente: solo un paio di righe nella tua lingua madre o - meglio ancora - in entrambe le lingue. Probabilmente si metteranno in contatto con te altri partecipanti al Forum, che hanno i tuoi stessi interessi e vogliono saperne di più su di te.

In this forum you will be able to write what you want: you can ask for and give information, give your own opinions, relate your personal experiences, etc. Each person can write in his/her own language, in the foreign language or in both. The important thing is that the number of contributions in both languages is more or less equal so that everyone has the same opportunity to read and write in the foreign language.

In questo Forum puoi scrivere su qualsiasi argomento: puoi chiedere informazioni, puoi contribuire con informazioni e opinioni personali, puoi raccontare le tue esperienze personali, ecc. Ognuno può scrivere nella sua lingua madre, nella lingua straniera o anche in entrambe - è solo importante che il numero dei contributi sia abbastanza bilanciato in entrambe le lingue, così tutti hanno pressapoco le stesse chance di leggere e scrivere nella lingua straniera.

2. Tandem partner - Tandem partners

You will benefit even more if you have a link with a tandem partner. (The term tandem is used when two people of different languages collaborate in the learning of their partner's language.) In pairs you can not only discuss topics that you may not want to share with everyone but also, what is even more important is that you will have the opportunity to give each other help through corrections, advice, questions, etc.

Corrispondendo con un o una Tandem Partner puoi imparare sempre di più. (Si parla di Tandem quando due persone di culture differenti lavorano insieme per imparare entrambi la lingua del partner o della partner.). Tra di voi potete non solo parlare di argomenti che non volete condividere con tutti gli altri; ma, molto più importante, potete aiutarvi l'un l'altro attraverso correzioni, consigli, domande, ecc.

So that we can find a tandem partner for you, you can write a brief message to the Tandem Agency: "My name is.... Forum ENG-ITA. My first language is English. I am learning Italian. Looking for a tandem partner."

Affinchè possiamo trovarti un/a partner tandem, invia un breve messaggio al servizio di abbinamento dei partner tandem:"Forum ENG-ITA. Prima lingua: Italiano. Studio l'Inglese. Cerco un/a Tandem Partner."

Teachers who want to include e-mail tandem in their Italian or English classes, should contact both of the ENG-ITA coordinators (addresses at the end of this text).

Gli Insegnanti che avessero intenzione di inserire il programma tandem per posta eletronica nelle loro lezioni di inglese ovvero di italiano, devono mettersi in contatto con tutti i coordinatori del ENG-ITA (gli indirizzi sono al fondo di questo testo).

3. Altri servizi della rete - Other network services

In this network we have a program which to take care of the administration to which you can send commands of different types. But these commands must be well formulated (one command per line) so as not to confuse the program. At the present time the program only understands and "speaks" English.

Su questa rete per i compiti amministrativi c'è a vostra e nostra diposizione un programma, a cui potete inviare i più vari comandi. Quindi perchè il programma non venga ingarbugliato, questi comandi devono essere formulati in modo chiaro (un comando per riga). Per il momento il programma capisce e "parla" solo l'Inglese.

If, for example, you don't want to receive any more ENG-ITA mail, you can send it this command:
