ENG-POL is a forum for discussion in Polish and English in which people who have command of one of the two languages, are learning the other and wish to know more about members in other countries.

ENG-POL jest angielsko-polskim forum dyskusyjnym, w ktorym biora udzial uczacy sie lub znajacy jezyk angielski i polski, ktorzy w ten sposob chca nauczyc sie wiecej jezyka i dowiedziec sie wiecej o kulturze kraju partnerskiego.

1. The forum - Forum

In order to take part in the discussion of this forum, the only thing you have to do is to send your messages to the forum address and the computers will automatically send them on to all the other members.

Aby wziac udzial w Forum, wystarczy wyslac swoja wiadomosc po polsku lub po angielsku na adres. Wiadomosc ta zostanie automatycznie przeslana do wszystkich uczestnikow Forum..

To begin with, we suggest that, as a newcomer, you introduce yourself to the other members by writing just a few lines in your mother tongue, or better still, in both languages. It is possible that other members might then get in touch with you and, having common interests, might want tofind out more about you.

Na poczatek wypada sie oczywiscie przedstawic i napisac pare linijek o sobie - im wiecej, tym lepiej - najlepiej w obydwu jezykach. W ten sposob zwiekszaja sie szanse znalezienia partnera do dalszej, bezposredniej korespondencji.

In this forum you will be able to write what you want: you can ask for and give information, give your own opinions, relate your personal experiences, etc. Each person can write in their own language, in the foreign language or in both. The important thing is that the number of contributions in both languages is more or less equal so that everyone has the same opportunity to read and write in the foreign language.

Tematyka Forum jest otwarta. Mozna pisac o wszystkim, proponowac tematy do dyskusji, prosic o informacje, porady itp. Kazdy moze pisac w swoim jezyku, w drugim lub w obydwu - nalezy jedynie dbac o to, aby zachowane zostaly proporcje, to znaczy aby nie dominowal jeden jezyk.

2. Tandem partners - Wspolpraca w systemie tandemowym

You will benefit even more if you have a link with a tandem partner. (The term tandem is used when two people of different languages collaborate in the learning of their partner's language.) In pairs you can not only discuss topics that you may not want to share with everyone but also, what is even more important is that you will have the opportunity to give each other help through corrections, advice, questions, etc.

Udzial w Forum moze byc znakomita okazja do znalezienia partnera, z ktorym mozna dalej wspolpracowac w systemie tandemowym. Polega on na wzajemnym uczeniu sie jezyka i poznawaniu kultury kraju partnera. Daje to okazje do glebszej dyskusji, a takze stwarza mozliwosc wzajemnej korekty jezykowej.

If you would like us to find a tandem partner for you, write a brief message to the 'Tandem Dating Agency': "Forum ENG-POL. My first language is English. I am learning Polish. Looking for a tandem partner."

Teachers who want to include e-mail tandem in their Polish or English classes should contact both of the ENG-POL co-ordinators (addresses at the end of this text).

Nauczyciele zainteresowani zastosowaniem systemu E-Mail Tandem w swoich programach nauczania jezyka angielskiego lub polskiego proszeni sa o nawiazanie kontaktu z koordynatorami sieci ENG-POL, ktorych adresy podane sa na koncu tego tekstu.

3. Other network services – Inne mozliwosci

In this network we have a program which takes care of administration duties, to whom you can send different types of commands. But these commands must be well formulated (one command per line) so as not to confuse the program. At the present time the program only understands and "speaks" English.

Nasza siec obslugiwana jest przez specjalny program, ktory "rozumie" wiele polecen, na razie tylko w jezyku angielskim. Pelny spis tych polecen mozna otrzymac wysylajac na adres administratora sieci wiadomosc: "help".
